This month’s meeting is our annual Sporting Clays and Steaks held at the Castlewood Rod & Gun Club.  You don’t have to be a sportsman to enjoy the barbeque and social time with our colleagues.  Of Course, those who are sportsman are welcome to bring their shotguns and enjoy the sporting clays.

Castlewood is a member driven Rod & Gun Club established in 1953 with over 350 active members and located 4 miles East of New Castle, PA and 2 miles south of Rte. 422.  Our club is situated on over 100 acres of rolling hills with a variety of terrain and cover. 

All types of shooting is available on the grounds at designated times which are open to the public.  These include Sporting Clays and NSCA registered events, Skeet, Trap, Pyramid 5 Stand with wobble trap, 5-Stand with 6 automatic throwers and 5 level of games, Archery Events, both indoor and outdoor "Combat Pistol Shooting" and now IDPA affiliated,  Indoor Lucky Target Turkey Shoots, and a member only rifle range with various ranges out to 500 meters.

From Airport:  Take PA-60 N to Exit 45.  At exit merge onto US-422 E toward Butler (4.8 mi.).  Take the PA-65 exit toward Washington St.  Turn right onto Ellwood Rd / PA-65 (4.11 mi).  Turn left onto Shaffer Rd.

From Southeast:  Take I-79 North to US-422 West.  Take the PA-65 exit toward Washington St.  Turn right onto Ellwood Rd / PA-65 (4.11 mi).  Turn left onto Shaffer Rd.

Alternate directions to Castlewood Rod & Gun Club

From I-79 exit toward New Castle @ Exit 99. Travel west 5.6 miles to Mill Bridge Road on Left (½ mile past Living treasures animal park) Go 1 mile on Mill Bridge Rd to Shaffer road, turn Right onto Shaffer, the club is 1 mile on the left.

From I-60 (soon the be I-376) exit towards Butler onto the 422 bi-pass continue toward Butler the 4 lane will change to a 3 lane and become

RT-422 east (toward Butler) continue 2.5 miles to Mill Bridge Road on Right (if you go past Living treasures animal park you missed the turn to the club TURN around) Go 1 mile on Mill Bridge Rd to Shaffer road, turn Right onto Shaffer, the club is 1 mile on the left.

Please be sure to make a reservation so we have enough food for everyone.

Bring your shotgun and 50+ shotshells and plan to have a great time on the sporting clays range. Golf carts are available on a first come basis.
